Frankfurt coach confirms that Gross move from Brighton has collapsed

Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller says a move for Brighton's Germany midfielder Pascal Gross has fallen apart.

"We would have loved to have him here because of his experience and his personality, but the matter is now closed. We don't need to talk about it any more," Toppmöller told reporters on the first day of pre-season training on Wednesday.

Gross is now being linked in the media with a move to Borussia Dortmund.

Frankfurt, who finished sixth in the Bundesliga last term, have a hole in centre midfield following the retirement of captain Sebastian Rode.

"We will consider who there is on the market and what internal options we have. Then we will make the right decision," the coach added.
