‘My sister wants to name her baby after a fish – it's terrible’

One woman is concerned about the moniker her sister has chosen for her future son . She says her sister is often a jokester, but she might just be serious about her chosen baby name .

The perplexed woman says her sister wants to name her baby after something you would typically stumble upon in the ocean.

Taking to Reddit , she went searching for opinions on the name and how to go about the situation.

She wrote: “My sister is currently seven months pregnant and will be having a baby boy. For her whole life, my sister has loved sea and aquatic/marine life, all of it just makes her happy.

“In the beginning of her pregnancy she didn’t have a name picked out. We live in different states so we don’t communicate as much, so a few weeks ago I called her and asked if she had a name picked out.

“She said she settled on the name ‘Seabass,’ yes, the fish (I am not making this up, I truly wish I was). She’s always been a playful person so I truly thought she was joking but she said she really loved it.

“Well yesterday I went to visit her to help her with the nursery, and she had one of those custom name signs that said ‘Seabass,’ and a blanket with his name on it.

“I told her that I really don’t think this is a good choice, tried to give her other nature or ‘ocean’ names, even asked if she could use the name Sebastian.

“But she wasn’t having it and said ‘This name feels right for him.’ I know he’s not my child, and so I’m trying to respect her choice. But am I overreacting here? Or is my sister just wild for this?”
