Destructive storms, reported tornadoes sweep through upstate NY. See the damage

A string of strong thunderstorms resulting from remnants of Hurricane Beryl tore through Western New York, Central New York and the Finger Lakes region Wednesday, producing multiple tornado warnings and at least one legitimate tornado, along with strong winds and heavy rain.

The dangerous weather prompted Syracuse University to evacuate their campus by 3:30 p.m., put the town of Eden, in Western New York, under a state of emergency and canceled or postponed several events in the Rochester area.

Here's a look at how much damage was caused throughout upstate New York Wednesday.

Town of Eden in Erie County

In Eden, located just over 30 minutes south of the city of Buffalo, road closures and a state of emergency were put in place as visuals emerged on social media of scattered trees, power lines and roofing material.

And @weather_buffalo on X shared drone footage of the aftermath of the tornado that passed through Eden, which shows several heavily damaged buildings and flattened trees:

Town of Arkwright, Chautauqua County

Before making its way to Eden, severe weather conditions ramped up in Arkwright, just south of Dunkirk. A video shared on X by @ReedTimmerUSA shows ripping, rotating winds peeling off a roof and throwing debris around.

WGRZ reporter Dave McKinley made a trip down to Arkwright after severe weather passed through and captured this video of the resulting damage:
