BEDFORD, Pa. (WTAJ) — Despite the heat, the Bedford Farmers Market still saw strong turnout Wednesday, and many booths were nearly sold-out of products before noon.

Every Wednesday beginning in May, local farmers and artisans gather on the square in Downtown Bedford for a farmers market organized by Downtown Bedford, Inc. The weekly market boasts dozens of booths selling local grown flowers and produce, as well as fresh baked goods and hand-made crafts.

While events like the market support the local economy, many vendors said they set up at the market for the sense of community.

“We get to see everyone in the community. We get to see the local business owners coming out and everyone who works. And also, you know, it’s beautiful — it’s a beautiful day in Bedford,” Mandisa Horn, owner of local “freshtaurant” Horn O Plenty , said.

“There is something about a community, the different people. This has been– this farmer’s market has really grown and it’s really just become like such a staple downtown on Wednesdays,” said Dina McGee, who helps at the Eliza’s Organics stand.
