DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — On Wednesday, the storms are passing through Luzerne County’s back mountain. That’s just one of the counties in the area under tornado and flash flood watches.

Not many people were out on the roads as the weather picked up Wednesday night.

There’s been thunder, lightning, and heavy rainfall, even still windy at times.

We’ve gone from hot, humid temperatures above 90° all day long, to severe storm watches in effect for several counties, plus flash flood advisories.

It’s been a lot of wicked weather to adjust to for many.

“It’s been grueling to get anything done especially in oppressive heat and especially the humidity we’ve been experiencing. I took off today, thank God, because the heat was just wiping me out. We have extreme weather in the past. It’s just something repeating itself and hopefully, it will go away sometime soon,” Kingston Township resident Michael Kalinosky said.

The thunderstorms are producing the heavy rainfall.

Dallas and Harveys Lake are two of several areas in Luzerne County that could experience flash flooding.

It’s important to remember that flash flooding could be life-threatening, so stay indoors if possible.

If you do need to be out on the roads, drive carefully.
