MONROE COUNTY — In addition to the Monroe County Senior Millage renewal, which will be on all Aug. 6 primary ballots in Monroe County, several local townships and cities also have other ballot proposals to decide in August. Among them are two Whiteford Agricultural Schools bond proposals.
Whiteford Agricultural Schools
Whiteford Agriculture Schools is seeking two bond issues.
The first requests $9,600,000 to erect, furnish and equip additions to Whiteford Elementary School; remodel, furnish and refurnish and equip and re-equip Whiteford Elementary School; acquire, install, equip and re-equip Whiteford Elementary School for instructional technology; erect, remodel and equip and re-equip athletic support buildings and additions to athletic support buildings; and prepare, develop, improve, erect and equip athletic fields and facilities, structures and sites.
The second requests $400,000 to prepare, develop and improve athletic fields, including installing synthetic field turf for the baseball and softball fields.
Ash Township
Ash Township has a recycling operation and maintenance proposition on the ballot. This is a new millage to replace a recycling millage that has expired.
A levy of .25 mills is requested to provide funds to operate and maintain the county’s recycling program.
Bedford Township
Bedford Township seeks renewal of a law enforcement proposal. If passed, the township will continue to levy up to .3896 mills for five years to provide funds for law enforcement, including providing up to four deputies contracted from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and for operations and to purchase equipment for the township.
City of Luna Pier
The City of Luna Pier has two charter amendment proposals on the ballot.
One is a levy of an additional annual millage, not exceeding 1 mill, for four years to increase the reserve fund for repairs to the dike system throughout the city, including pump stations, gates, earthen dikes, walls and wave deflectors.
The other is a annual level, not exceeding 2 mills for four years, for police protection.
Erie Township
Erie Township seeks a fire department renewal proposal. If passed, the township will continue to levy up to 2 mills for five years to provide funds for the Erie Township Fire Department to be used for capital expenditures, limited to firefighter equipment and vehicles and rescue equipment.
Frenchtown Township
Frenchtown Township seeks a millage renewal for fire department administration and funding. If passed, the township will continue to levy 2 mills for five years to fund the department and its operations and administration.
Ida Township
Ida Township seeks a millage renewal and increase proposal for township fire protection.
If passed, the township would renew the previous millages and increase by a new additional millage rate of .5 mills levied each year for four years.
LaSalle Township
LaSalle Township seeks a renewal of a millage to fund the township fire department. If passed, the township will renew up to .75 mills for five years.

Milan Township
Milan Township has three millages on the ballot.
A fire protection millage renewal requests 1.25 mills levied for four years to fund capital expenditures, purchase of equipment, improvements, maintenance, repairs and general operating costs for fire protection.
The road maintenance and repair millage renewal would levy .75 mills for four years for general improvements, maintenance and repairs to Milan Township roads and infrastructure.
The supplemental road and repair millage renewal would levy .75 mills for four years for general improvements, maintenance and repairs to Milan Township roads and infrastructure.
