At just 18 years old, British racer Oliver Bearman has not only carved a niche for himself in the highly competitive world of motorsports but is also gearing up for an illustrious tenure in Formula 1. Currently competing in Formula 2, Bearman made headlines with a commendable seventh-place finish in his Formula 1 debut at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, standing in for Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz. This experience not only boosted his profile but also secured him a full-time seat with Haas for the 2025 Formula 1 season, under a two-year contract.

Bearman’s debut was not just a fill-in role; it was a showcase of his burgeoning talent and a stepping stone towards achieving his long-term dream: racing for Ferrari. “The long-term dream remains the same, I want to be successful in F1,” Bearman stated emphatically. His performance in Saudi Arabia was more than just a temporary stint; it was a statement of intent. By finishing in the points in his very first F1 race, Bearman demonstrated his readiness for the world’s premier motorsport category.

Looking ahead, Bearman is fully focused on the immediate future, with a pragmatic approach towards his racing career. “My short-term is finishing Formula 2 and looking towards next year with Haas, and, I am really excited for that,” he explains. This commitment reflects a mature head on young shoulders, understanding the importance of each step in his career ladder.

Despite the allure of future possibilities, such as replacing Lewis Hamilton, who currently might have about two plus one years left with Ferrari under his existing contract, Bearman remains grounded. He acknowledges the potential opportunities but chooses to concentrate on the present. “It’s hard not to think about it, but I am not thinking about it,” Bearman admits, adding, “I feel like all I can do is perform at my best, and that is my goal. Anything that comes after that is not really within my control, but I am focusing on my future with Haas at the moment – and I am really excited to get started.”

Bearman’s aspirations are fueled by a blend of immediate targets and future ambitions. “I want to win races and championships, and with the support and loyalty Ferrari have shown me, it is only right that I would want to do that with Ferrari,” he says. This statement not only highlights his career objectives but also underscores the significant support and relationship he has developed with Ferrari, making his debut with them a memorable and influential experience. “It is every boy’s dream, and making my debut with them made that even stronger, but by the same token, I am also looking at this in the short and medium term.”

The young driver’s journey is a testament to not just his racing prowess but also his strategic thinking and ability to balance immediate challenges with long-term goals. As Bearman prepares for his Formula 2 finale and looks ahead to his promising career with Haas, the motorsports community eagerly watches, anticipating the rise of a new star in the high-octane world of Formula 1.
