Man killed after car flips into tree off Lake County road

A man was killed Wednesday afternoon after he lost control of his vehicle on a Lake County road and crashed into a tree, authorities said.

The man was driving north on Bottle Rock Road west of Cobb about 1:44 p.m. when his Toyota Scion drove off the east side of the two-lane road just north of Spring Hill Road, California Highway Patrol-Clear Lake said in a news release.

The sedan went down an embankment, flipped and crashed into a tree. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car.

Cal Fire responded to the crash site and pronounced the man dead.

Authorities managed one-way traffic control on Bottle Rock Road as CHP-Clear Lake investigated and officials cleaned the site.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors in the crash, according to the CHP.
