JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – A Jackson County woman is suing the Jackson County School Board, claiming her 6-year-old daughter was repeatedly sexually assaulted by another student.

The lawsuit claims the incidents took place at Marianna K-8 school from August 2023 to October 10th, 2023.

The civil lawsuit says a 6-year-old classmate molested the girl at least four times while both sat on a couch in the classroom. They were reportedly covered by a blanket.

According to the lawsuit the teacher was in the classroom and should have prevented the molestations. It goes on the say that, as an employee of the school board, she was negligent for failing to properly supervise the students and failing to provide a safe and secure environment.

The lawsuit was filed on June 24th.

News 13 spoke to Jackson County School Superintendent Steve Benton who said he has not yet been served with the lawsuit and declined to comment until he’s seen it. We have not been able to find any evidence of a criminal investigation into these allegations.
