BOONVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Warrick County Commissioners Terry Phillippe, Dan Saylor and Robert Johnson, along with Warrick County Health Administrator Marlin Weisheit attended a press briefing hosted by the commissioners to address and respond to recent charges the four men are facing. The commissioners all face charges of Official Misconduct and False Informing stemming from an investigation into Warrick Animal Control’s alleged misappropriation of funds. Commissioner Phillippe also faces one count of Perjury.

Hearing, trial date set for Marlin Weisheit

During the briefing led by county attorney Andrew Skinner, attorneys said the various cases against the men are the cause of personal agendas and “false narratives”. They say the firing of former Health Department Director Aaron Franz is what eventually led health board members to filing a civil suit, followed by additional charges and investigations that counsel says are “frivolous”.

Attorney Anthony Long doubled down on a stance that investigators have mishandled the case against commissioners. Weisheit is charged with two counts of Conversion and Official Misconduct for allegedly approving health department funds without approval. Weisheit and the three commissioners did speak, but only on current issues and projects within the county. Commissioners Saylor and Phillippe stopped short of addressing the ongoing cases, saying they have always strived to do right.
