The Washington Wizards and free agent forward Saddiq Bey have agreed to a three-year, $20 million contract, his agents, James Dunleavy and Jordan Gertler of Excel Basketball, announced Wednesday night.

Washington Wizards forward Saddiq Bey is slated to earn $6.34 million in the 2023-24 season

According to Spotrac, his estimated salaries are $6.34 million for 2024-25, $6.66 million for 2025-26, and $6.98 million for 2026-27. The deal also includes a trade restriction, preventing him from being traded until Dec. 15.

Bey, 25, is recovering from a torn ACL he suffered with the Atlanta Hawks last season. The 6-foot-7, 215-pound wing is returning to his hometown to join a Wizards team that is currently undergoing a full rebuild.

Bey played high school basketball at DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville and at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. During his junior year, Bey averaged 14.5 points en route to leading Sidwell to a conference championship.

Furthermore, Bey was selected 19th overall by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2020 NBA draft out of Villanova. He was then traded to the Detroit Pistons, where he spent his first 2 ½ seasons (2020-23) before getting dealt to Atlanta.

Through 292 career NBA games (223 starts), Bey has averaged 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 30.2 minutes per game. His average career true shooting percentage is 55% as well.

Plus, he has shot 40.8% from the floor, 35.2% from 3-point range, and 84.2% at the free throw line. He has ranked in the top 10 for made corner 3s in the past four years, per Second Spectrum tracking.

Bey averaged 13.7 points, a career-high 6.5 rebounds with the Atlanta Hawks in 2023-24

In 63 games (51 starts) with the Hawks last season, he averaged 13.7 points, a career-high 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 32.7 minutes per game while shooting 41.6% from the field, 31.6% from deep, and 83.7% at the foul line.

Additionally, in Atlanta’s 126-125 win over the Toronto Raptors on Jan. 28, he recorded a season-high 26 points on 8-of-16 (50%) shooting from the floor and 10-of-15 (66.7%) at the line.

Hawks coach Quinn Snyder praised Bey for his impressive outing.

“You can rebound and defend whether your shot’s going in or not. Oftentimes, our effort, our focus on some of those absolutes in the game can be blurred,” Snyder said. “Players that are able to separate that and continue to give that type of effort [help you win games].

“[Those plays from] Saddiq were emblematic of who he is as a person and as a player. Those were big plays, whether it was the foul line, a rebound, those things are momentum plays.”

Bey is one of nine players with at least 650 career made 3-pointers through his first four NBA seasons, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
