Olmsted Township bar closed after fire causes significant damage

OLMSTED TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) – An Olmsted Township bar is thanking the public for their help after a fire devastated the business.

Fat Little Buddies Tavern took to Facebook , saying a blaze started in their kitchen after closing Wednesday night.

Investigators say the fire extended to the roof of the building.

Firefighters with the Olmsted Township Fire Department were able to contain the fire quickly and no one was injured, but the building suffered significant smoke and water damage.

Fat Little Buddies Tavern will be closed until further notice. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help staff members during this time.

As of Friday afternoon, the GoFundMe has raised more than $13,000.

“We’re overwhelmed by all the support we’re receiving during this time. We’ve read every comment and appreciate all your prayers,” the bar said in an update . “The Olmsted community is something special and we are so grateful to be a part of it! Thank you to each and every one of you who have offered to help or donated to our staff! We will keep you updated on the next steps of remodel and plans of reopening.”

“We’re hurting and we know you are too but this gives us so much hope! We are looking forward to our reopening party and seeing you all again as soon as possible!”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
