COOSA COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — CBS 42’s Your Voice Your Station team is following up on a road investigation from earlier this year where issues continue.

In April, we helped Alice Hall get ALDOT’s attention to make safety repairs on the roads to her home. This came after there were four fatal accidents over eight years. However, she believes more still needs to be done along AL-9 and AL-115.

Hall says another accident has taken out her mailbox and caused damage to her and her neighbors’ front yards.

“This is one of the spots right here,” Hall said showing us the damage across several properties. “He hit right here, it bounced him up, and then he hit the tides and stuff. His bumper was scraping that right there.”

How will the presidential election impact Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District?

Hall called us in June to tell us about another wreck on Alabama 9 landing in front of her home. This time it wasn’t fatal, but she says the man who was involved told her he was run off the road.

“He had minor injuries, but he said it was when he came into the curve,” she said.

ALDOT told us in April it would “continue to review safety measures that assist drivers maneuvering the curve on State Route 9 .”

“I contacted ALDOT the day of that accident he had, and the thing was we’ll get back with you,” Hall said. “We’ll see what we can do and that was the end of it.”

Hall doesn’t want another life lost before more work is done.

“We pay taxes. Tax money is supposed to take care of what we need on these streets and on these highways, so I don’t understand why we have to go jump through all of these hoops to get something done,” Hall said. “Lives gotta be taken in order for someone to do something.”

An ALDOT official said there are no plans to make safety improvements in the area, but in the future, there may be signs to increase markings. ALDOT said most accidents are due to speeding and driver errors.
