A Wilson man is charged with multiple counts of attempted first-degree murder following a drive-by shooting in the city, according to Wilson Police Department officials.

Kenneth Marquette Edwards, 19, of the 200 block of Freeman Street in Wilson, is charged with five counts of attempted first-degree murder, according to Sgt. Eric McInerny, public information officer with the police department.

McInerny said that at 2:53 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to respond to the 1200 block of Adams Street after a report that shots had been fired. There were no injuries in the incident.

McInerny said that officers arrived on scene and spoke with several witnesses to the incident.

“Officers determined that a dark colored sedan drove past the witnesses and began firing at them,” McInerny said. “One of the suspects was identified as Edwards.”

Shortly after the incident, police located Edwards and placed him under arrest, McInerny said.

Edwards was given no bond and placed in the Wilson County Detention Center.

    The case is under investigation.

Police ask anyone with information about the case to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
