The tornado reportedly first produced minor tree damage on the north and south sides of Lake Cherokee and Lake Road. The tornado then went northwest towards the airport.
“As the tornado moved through the southern portion of the airport, it caused damage to a number of hangars by knocking down or twisting the large hangar metal doors, and ripping off some side paneling to the hangars,” according to NWS.
NWS noted that there were two stop signs that were not just bent but twisted from the base. The tornado produced additional tree damage on the west side of SH 322 across from the airport before it lifted.
NWS thanked the Gregg County Emergency Management Office and the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office Airport Division for their help.

“It travelled just east of Bill Coleman Road snapping and uprooting hardwood and softwood trees before turning north, crossing Marshall Leigh Road, and travelling north again,” NWS said. “More tree damage was observed as the tornado crossed Highway 43 and then moved along Peter Chapel Road. The tornado lifted near the intersection of Baldwin Road and Peter Chapel Road.”
NACOGDOCHES COUNTY
NWS said the EF1 tornado produced damage around 1.5 miles to the southeast of Appleby on CR 260.
As the tornado crossed U.S. 59, NWS said it might have lifted shortly as damage was “lacking in this area.” Damage then picked up on CR 112 where more trees were snapped and uprooted.
The tornado then damaged households on CR 117 and CR 118.
“It tore the roof off of a single family home along with some damage to surrounding houses. Thankfully no one was injured at this location despite a few of the homeowners being home as the tornado moved through,” NWS said.

Thankfully none of these homes suffered any significant damage although a few of them had some siding or metal roofing pulled off them,” NWS said.

Residents around East Hamilton saw an EF-1 tornado with max winds of 110 mph on the western shoreline of Toledo Bend. NWS said there was no damage to the homes in the FM 2261 and CR 2844 area, but there was significant damage to trees that blocked the roads.
NWS said the tornado likely started over the lake and moved to shore where it was tracked east of CR 2799 through private roads.
“Thanks to the help of a local oil/gas worker, we were able to obtain drone footage that confirmed the tornado continued along this area with a clear cut path shown. We were able to access and confirm more damage along FS Road 148 and FS Road 135 where a small camp had significant damage to some of their smaller buildings and a number of trees,” NWS said.

Another EF-1 tornado with max winds of 110 mph was detected along the western portion of Toledo Bend near Holly Park Marina. NWS believes the tornado began on Toledo Bend and produced damage along the shoreline.
“As the tornado moved to the northwest we believe it made brief contact with an RV park at the Holly Park Marina where it overturned and tossed a couple of RV’s, completely destroying them. The tornado also threw a few boats, ruined a boat dock, completely destroyed a small fish cleaning station and snapped a number of large hardwood trees,” NWS said.
The tornado reportedly went back over the water and dissipated.
