(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) is inundated with cats, most of which are kittens, and all of them need loving homes.

HSPPR posted a plea on Friday, July 12, and said its shelters currently have 506 cats and kittens, though it is not due to a lack of adoptions. HSPPR said adoptions have been steady, with nearly 65 cats being adopted over the July 4 weekend.

However, HSPPR said since Monday, July 8, over 140 cats have been brought to the shelter.

“Cats are finding homes, but as one leaves, two more take their place,” HSPPR lamented in its Facebook post.

Most of the cats are kittens and only a few months old, though the shelter also has adult feline friends, up to 13 years old.

You can visit the shelter’s list of available pets to find a paw-fect addition to your family.

“We want to continue the cat love and increase our feline adoptions,” said HSPPR. “More adoptions = more kennel space to help other homeless cats.”
