National football team captain Alvaro Morata and tennis star Carlos Alcaraz are supporting each other to deliver Euro 2024 and Wimbledon trophies for Spain on Sunday.

Title holder Alcaraz faces Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final in the afternoon in London before the footballers take on England in the evening in Berlin.

"I hope at least that Sunday will be a memorable day for the whole of Spain," Morata said in a UEFA video.

"We will be supporting you wholeheartedly, and as you always say we both know what it takes [to win]. I hope we can see each other next week in Madrid and celebrate together."

Alcaraz said in another UEFA video: "You are having a perfect Euro 2024 campaign. I have been following from the first game to the semi-final, suffering alongside you and supporting you.

"I hope that Sunday will be a special day for everyone and I am sure it will be for you. Sending a big hug. Let's do this! Vamos!"

Spain won Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup when Rafael Nadal also won Wimbledon but in those years the finals were not on the same day.

Italy could have achieved the football and Wimbledon double three years ago but while the footballers beat England Matteo Berrettini lost the Wimbledon final against Novak Djokovic.
