The use of Ozempic for weight loss has grown in popularity in the showbiz world.

The likes of Sharon Osbourne and Amy Schumer have admitted to using the drug to shed the pounds. This comes despite the drug only being indicated for diabetes and for the treatment of adults with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercize.

Now, as the rise in its use continues, an expert has shared their fears of "Ozempic face" and urged people to think of the after effects of wanting such a rapid weight loss.

Susan Brenner of California's Premier Med Spa, Revive Med Spa , explained how such a quick loss can come with issues. She told us: "[It can] result in loose skin and loss of tone, elasticity, and texture which creates an aged and gaunt look, especially in the face. In fact, the term 'Ozempic Face' has become popular to address the loss of facial volume and skin laxity."

She explained that for those who have already experienced weight loss, the best way to address the loss of volume is with procedures that help with lifting and laxity and promote collagen and elastin production.

"When it comes to the face, changes caused by rapid weight loss are best treated with a two-pronged approach 1: tightening of the skin and 2: replacing volume," she added.

Sharon Osbourne revealed she lost 42 pounds while she was using the drug and admitted it made her feel "nauseous". She said: "The nausea went away, but once you're on it you don't feel hungry and you don't eat. It's not talked about but you can get a blockage in your bowel. I haven't been on it for three or four months. My weight has stabilised. I went down to about 97lb [6st 13lb] and it was like, 'Oh no.' I needed to put some weight back on, which I have."

Away from her Ozempic warning, Susan also said celebrities were making a number of common mistakes when it comes to having fillers. "While fillers can offer exceptional results when administered by skilled professionals, common mistakes can lead to less than desirable outcomes, especially among celebrities constantly in the public eye," she said.

She went on to list three risks that should always be avoided: "Selecting the wrong provider, not allowing recovery time, and ignoring facial balance."
