There's no secret that the 2023 season for the Las Vegas Raiders had its share of ups and downs. Mostly, the first half of the season was downs, as the Raiders fired the old regime in general manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels . When they made that switch to Antonio Pierce , everything changed.

Obviously, now we are heading into the 2024 season with Pierce as the actual head coach, but a different set of QBs competing for the starting spot than what we saw this time last year. So, what happened? How did we get here?

Well, ultimately, it started with the firing of McDaniels. Then, after that, it was the ultimatum that Adams gave the Raiders. You may not have known about this, but Netflix's recent docuseries called "Receiver" showcased some behind-the-scenes footage of Davante Adams this last season, and a lot of it is footage we haven't seen until now.

"My opinion on that [Aidan O'Connell starting over Jimmy Garoppolo], was that I signed off on that," Adams said when asked his opinion on the move. "That's just the reality of it. I love Jimmy and he's a great guy, but something had to happen in order for us to have a chance down the stretch, and in order for me to remain a Raider, in all honesty."

Garoppolo was simply not getting the job done, and we knew that much. But what we didn't know is that Adams gave the team an ultimatum to make O'Connell the starting quarterback from that point forward. And, what did Antonio Pierce do? He made O'Connell the starting quarterback for the rest of the season.

And, we know from earlier in episode four, that Adams was seen on the sideline during the game against the Detroit Lions, going crazy over the sort of passes that Garoppolo was throwing him. So, it makes sense that he would want someone else to come in and do the job in a much better way.

And I don't think anyone will argue that Garoppolo is better than O'Connell. However, we didn't know that Adams was heavily involved like that.
