    19-year-old dead, 16-year-old injured after police chase in DeKalb County

    DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. ( WHNT ) — A single-vehicle wreck early Saturday morning killed one and injured another in DeKalb County.

    The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says that around 2:49 a.m. Saturday, 19-year-old Cody W. Ashley was killed when his car struck a pole, a tree and then overturned on County Road 248.

    ALEA: Huntsville man dead after car hits tree, catches fire

    Troopers reported that Ashley was in a car chase with police before crashing. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

    ALEA says a 16-year-old passenger in the car with Ashley was injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.

    Troopers with ALEA are still investigating and say no further information is available at this time.
