A Wallingford man has been arrested after allegedly attacking a deputy with the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) on Saturday morning.

According to authorities, 60-year-old Billy Hall was taken to the Fleming County Hospital on Saturday. When Hall arrived, he “quickly exited the ambulance and attempted to make entry through the first set of bay doors at the hospital,” according to FCSO.

Once inside the hospital, the FCSO said that “Hall, who was unprovoked, turned around and attacked” a deputy with it. The deputy was able to restrain Hall and then begin first aid on himself before hospital staff helped him.

The deputy was reportedly taken to UK hospital by emergency personnel after the alleged attack.

Authorities said Hall was originally being taken to the Fleming County Hospital in response to a “medical issue.”

Hall was cleared by the hospital and lodged in the Mason County Detention Center, according to law enforcement. He was charged with the attempted murder of a police officer.
