Shannen Doherty's Last Interview Before Death Addressed Dating With an 'Expiration Date'

While Shannen Doherty fought her cancer tirelessly until she died on July 13 , she also maintained a positive outlook on her life, exploring romance in the months before her death.

In her last interview before passing, Doherty opened up about the difficulties of dating with a terminal illness, with the actress arguing that some men find it difficult to date someone with a potential "expiration date."

Doherty sat down with Kelly Ripa for her podcast, Let's Talk Off Camera , in late June, and the two women spoke about a variety of topics, including her health status and dating.

"I think it's hard for somebody like me," Doherty told the LIVE With Kelly and Mark host, "Because it's hard to go into dating someone when you know they might have an expiration date."

The Charmed star continued, claiming, "I don't think men handle death and illness... as well as women do. So I think I'm a very hard sell."

Ripa didn't agree, and she noted that she was on the lookout for a man who would be good for Doherty. Going on, Ripa talked about someone she knew who might be a good fit, making Doherty swear that she was done with "bad boys."

Throughout the compelling conversation, the two women also touched on Doherty's longtime friendships and her career journey.

It's unclear if Doherty was in a relationship with anyone at the time of her death. Her last public relationship was with Kurt Iswarienko , whom she married in 2011. She filed for divorce from Iswarienko in early 2023, and the court proceedings were still ongoing when she died.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, and she successfully went into remission two years later. Unfortunately, the cancer returned as Stage 4, with Doherty sharing the sad news in 2020. Since then, it spread to other areas of her body, and she underwent various treatments to try to fight it.
