GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — Nestled in the heart of Guernsey County, the village of Old Washington is typically a quiet, close knit community.

But in less than a week from now, that is all about to change.

Thousands of country music fans are on their way as the small town set to host one of the biggest festivals the area has seen in quite some time.

Imagine a country music festival right here in the Ohio Valley.

It is a huge three-day event that features some of the country’s top acts.

Imagine it would take place right in the middle of summer, say, the third week of July.

On-site camping, free parking, and coolers are welcome.

If you think that would never happen again here in this area, think again.

Woodsfield native Dustin Knowlton and his organization, Big Time Entertainment, are bringing the inaugural Old Washington Music Festival to the Guernsey Couty Fairgrounds.

He says it’s the perfect venue for the big show.

Guernsey County Fairgrounds has a lot of on-site camping so we have chosen this as our spot. We feel like it’s a pretty good area and can pull from everywhere here and still in Southeastern Ohio.”

The event features 15 acts over three days and includes names such as Travis Tritt, who will be heading on Thursday.

On Friday, there is the Marshall Tucker Band and Craig Morgan.

Saturday, we’ve kind of tailored it to the younger crowd. We’ve got Hunter Hays and LANCO and some other acts. We’ve tried to blend it with a little bit of everybody, and we want to appeal to everybody, young and old, all fans alike. We’ve also got some local talent, including Jake Binegar from Marrietta. Hoard & Jones, which a lot of people are familiar with. Roger Hoard from the Ohio Valley. We feel we got a pretty good line up this year and hope that it will grow every year.”

There will also be several food trucks on had as well as merchandise and souvenir vendors, and did I mention coolers? Well coolers are allowed, in fact they are encouraged.

That’s something we thought was much needed. It was a very big part of this type of festival in the past. So we want everybody to bring their own cooler and refreshments. No glass. But whatever you drink, whatever kind of spirit of choice, bring it on.”

The festival is already drawing fans from several states and countries, including New York, Maine, and Canada.

Now, if you don’t want to wait until Thursday, they actually have a pre-party planned for Wednesday night featuring the Confederate Railroad.
