New York Jets’ Defense Earns Massive Ranking For 2024

The New York Jets have a chance to turn it around this season and make it to the playoffs.

The Jets acquired Aaron Rodgers last offseason but only got four snaps before he tore his Achilles. With Rodgers back in the fold and improvements on both sides of the ball, the Jets could be contenders in the AFC.

Rodgers’ last fully healthy season was in 2022 with the Green Bay Packers. In that campaign, Rodgers completed 64.6 percent of his passes for 3,695 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

The Jets hope to get great production out of the future Hall-of-Famer, who has a ton of talent around him.

New York has Garrett Wilson as the top wideout, with Xavier Gipson and Allen Lazard on the depth chart, as well. Gang Green also brought in Mike Williams, who has proven to be a quality second receiver when healthy.

The Jets have a budding star at running back in Breece Hall and drafted Braelon Allen as the secondary back.

Plus, New York addressed its major offensive issue: retooling their offensive line.

The Jets added Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses as veteran tackles while drafting Olu Fashanu in the first round as an offensive tackle for the future.

While New York’s offense is much improved, their defense is the true strength.

With that in mind, let’s break down the Jets defensive ranking.

Jets ranked top defense in the NFL

Pro Football Network has ranked the Jets as the top defense in the NFL.

New York already had one of the best defenses in the league and then acquired star pass rusher Haason Reddick in a trade.

Reddick is seeking a new contract, and the Jets need to get that deal done, but his production will be pivotal as a pass rusher.

The 29-year-old star had 11 sacks in the 2023 season for the Philadelphia Eagles.

New York has a plethora of homegrown stars on defense, including Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams.

Gardner is one of the top corners in the league, consistently locking down the opposing team’s best receiver. Williams is a disruptor, a run-stuffer, and a pass rusher in the middle for the Jets.

With the whole collection of talent for the Jets defense and defensive-minded head coach in Robert Saleh, there is no question they are the best defense in the league.

With a highly talented defense and Rodgers back in the fold, expect the Jets to be in the mix to win the AFC East title.
