Lauren Boebert, a right-wing politician in the news for numerous instances of questionable behavior has once again made headlines—and this time for driving faster than the speed limit.

Knewz.com has learned that the representative from Colorado 's Fourth Congressional District (CD4) was caught on a police officer’s bodycam, blaming her transmission for going 19 mph over the speed limit.

The footage’s audio depicts the unnamed officer pausing to hear Boebert’s explanation when she says: “I was messing with my gears and I know I ended up going, like, way too fast.”

The officer then noted that the recently separated politician (who had previously been cited for a series of traffic violations) “hit 90 for a second” and abruptly slowed down.

Boebert was fined $174.50 and warned that she was in danger of having her driver’s license confiscated as she had committed a string of historical traffic violations.

The ticket was issued on May 12, 2024, but she did not contact the Eagle County District Court until July 3—after she became aware of a scheduled court appearance.

Boebert’s press liaison, Drew Sexton, indicated that a check honoring the fine was posted to the court but had allegedly been lost in the mail during the process leading up to the summons.

Said check was then allegedly returned to the Boebert camp whereafter she called the Eagle County District Court to explain her dilemma. Then only did she pay the penalty using the conventional online method.

“Tickets that aren't paid to the state before their twenty-day deadline, they'll get sent to the court ,” a clerk was quoted saying.

Another unnamed court clerk who took Boebert’s call claims there was no mention of the alleged mailed check.

They said: “I don't know what happened before the ticket came to us.”

“She called and said, ‘I have a ticket with a court date and I need to take care of it.’ She contacted the court on July 3 and paid it online,” the clerk explained.

“Her [Boebert’s] case got forwarded to the court, we opened a case, and she took a standard plea offer.”

Boebert’s last significant violation occurred in 2016 after she rolled a truck into a ditch. The cited infractions were “careless and unsafe driving” whereafter she was given a date to appear in court.

Much like her most recent ticket, she demonstrated non-adherence which in this case, resulted in her arrest .

According to the Denver -based news outlet, West Word , Boebert spent two hours in prison before paying a fine of $100.

She was given another court date, which she was particularly circumspect about honoring.

During that appearance, she agreed to a plea deal where the charge of careless driving was dropped, but she acknowledged guilt for unsafe driving.

The politician has since brought up her brush with the Colorado Law during a CD4 debate, claiming: “My arrest was just a simple traffic violation that was unpaid.”
