Manchester United has reportedly knocked back initial approaches for Scott McTominay, with the club seeing him as a key part of their squad.

The 27 year old Scotland international, whose contract is up next year, with an option to extend, is considered highly valuable by United.

Despite West Ham's failed bid last year, McTominay went on to enjoy his most prolific season, netting 10 goals and playing a pivotal role in United's FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City.

Galatasaray have shown interest in McTominay, but it seems unlikely that any Turkish club could meet United's valuation. Last month, McTominay became the first Scot to score at a European Championship since 1996 with his goal against Switzerland.

Ibrahim Hatipoglu, Galatasaray's vice-chairman, has revealed ongoing talks regarding McTominay's potential transfer. The Turkish side are also eyeing Spurs' Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, although Hatipoglu has ruled out a move for United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

"McTominay's transfer fee is being discussed," Hatipoglu confirmed, according to Haber Sar Krmz. "Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a good player, he has many suitors, he wants to see all options.

"There is no talk of single-digit figures for right-back and midfield transfers. But we have allocated a budget for right-back. There is no negative situation regarding Guela Doue [Rennes right-back]. Negotiations are ongoing [for] McTominay and Doue. Wan-Bissaka is not our priority."

McTominay, who piqued the interest of West Ham last year, managed to seize his opportunities early on in the season. With injuries sidelining fellow players Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, and Casemiro, McTominay stepped up, ultimately playing in 43 matches.

With an eye on a significant reshuffling of their defensive lineup this summer, Manchester United has already bid farewell to Raphael Varane, transferred Willy Kambwala to Villarreal, and have expressed interest in moving on both Victor Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka.

Since his debut for Manchester United back in May 2017, McTominay has solidly established himself under the guidance of five different managers at his childhood club.
