Robert MacIntyre claimed an emotional and hard-fought home Open win at the Renaissance Club on Sunday.

The bag that powered him to the Scottish Open title was a mixture of Titleist and TaylorMade clubs.

Off the tee, MacIntyre still uses the TSR2 driver from Titleist although his fairway wood comes from the new GT3 series.

His Titleist GT3 3-wood is dialled in at 15 degrees of loft and is the only fairway wood in his bag.

Rather than opt for a 5-wood or 7-wood or a long iron, MacIntyre favours the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue hybrid lofted at 19 degrees and fitted with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 105 X shaft.

When it comes to irons, MacIntyre has a standard array of 4-9 irons and uses the Titleist 620 Cavity Back irons with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shafts.

His wedges are a mixture of Titleist Vokey Design SM10, SM9 and another wedgeworks club at 60 degrees with a K-grind finish.

The Scot’s putter is the popular TaylorMade Spider Tour stick and his ball of choice is the Titleist Pro V1 .

“It’s unbelievable,” MacIntyre said. “My reaction when that ball dropped on 18 said it all. I’ve almost lost my voice now. It’s the one I wanted and the one I got.”

It was an emotional day for MacIntyre, whose family have sacrificed much for his career.

    “I’m from a working-class background,” MacIntyre said.

“I’ve got two older sisters my parents foster. We’ve got a foster boy just now that’s been with us for six, seven years. I was given a great opportunity by my whole family.

“We used to have a horse for my sisters, and couldn’t afford to do both,” he continued, “and my sisters gave up the horse and gave me a chance to go and travel some within Britain.”
