Can we please stop pretending Lamar Jackson is better than Josh Allen?

For whatever reason, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is very polarizing.

Despite being the only quarterback in NFL history to accumulate 40 total touchdowns in four consecutive seasons, as well as leading the NFL with 173 total touchdowns since 2020, many still go out of their way to try and short-change one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

PFN released their top 100 players list ahead of the 2024 season, and Allen was listed outside of the top 10 at No. 11.

PFN listed Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson at No. 3, and as the second-best quarterback in football. This is despite Allen having 16 more touchdowns in 2023, having more than twice as many playoff wins than Jackson, including a playoff win over Jackson and the Ravens. Yet, so many people still choose to believe that Allen is inferior to Jackson.

Last season, Allen had a higher EPA per play, success rate, CPOE, and EPA+CPOE composite. And 2023 is far from a stand alone season in which Allen is better than Jackson.

Since 2020, Allen ranks fifth in EPA per play amongst quarterbacks with at least 300 snaps - Jackson ranks 18th. In adjusted EPA per play, Allen is sixth while Jackson is 20th. How about success rate? Allen is third, and Jackson is 15th. And in that span, Allen has 76 more touchdowns than Jackson.

This is so far from being a real competition and conversation. Allen is the better quarterback. He is the second-best quarterback in the league behind Patrick Mahomes. End of discussion.
