SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Heat Advisory is in effect for eastern Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties from Monday morning through Tuesday evening. The heat index will make it feel like it’s around 100 degrees.

WEATHER ALERT: Risk of strong to severe thunderstorms

Western Massachusetts is in the middle of yet another heat wave, and it’s important to take care of yourself as the temperature increases.

In weather like this, stay hydrated and dress lightly. For those still looking for their outside workout, wear appropriate lightweight clothing, try to stay in shaded areas, remember to wear sunscreen, and limit outdoor activity to morning hours.

Forest Park was busy with walkers and joggers earlier this morning, “It’s very humid. Normally we walk around 10 o’clock but this morning you can see we’re out a lot earlier, still want to get our walk in, the temperature’s not bad but the humidity is tough,” said Jeffrey Lombard of Longmeadow.

Exercising in hot weather puts extra stress on your body, so be sure to take plenty of breaks when it’s this hot out. Watch out for signs related to heat illness, such as nausea, vomiting, weakness, headache, fainting, and cold, clammy skin.
