CHEYENNE – At approximately 2:42 p.m. Sunday Laramie County Fire Authority responded to reports of smoke west of Curt Gowdy State Park. Units were on scene short after.

"We have a good knockdown on the fire thanks to air assets from the U.S. Forest Serve and Wyoming State Forestry Division and all of our partners. Crews will continue to work the fire tonight," LCFA Fire Chief, Jason Caughey said Sunday on facebook.

The fire was maintained to eight acres, mostly burning timber. As of Monday the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Crews worked through the night to contain the fire. Day crews arrived at the scene Monday, planning to stay throughout the day. Smoke will remain visible most of Monday, according to LCFA’s Facebook.

LCFA thanked their partners, Albany County, Laramie County Fire District 10, Medicine Bow National Forest, EMA (ask brian), Wyoming Red Cross, Vedauwoo, Wyoming State Parks and Albany County Sheriff via a facebook post Sunday.
