A country Jonas Brothers was not on my bingo card for 2024. The Jonas Brothers are putting on their best boots and cowboy hats for their performance at the Calgary Stampede. The Alberta, Canada, rodeo is the world's largest outdoor rodeo, featuring some top rodeo athletes and drawing crowds from all over the world. In addition to watching some of the best compete in bull riding, bucking broncs, barrel racing, and more, a massive concert series also accompanies the rodeo. This year's performers included Miranda Lambert, Nickelback, Mötley Crüe, Ashely McBryde, Megan Moroney, and many other acts from various genres. One act that took the stage and tipped their hat to the country music lovers in the crowd was the Jonas Brothers. During their headlining set, they leaned into the Western side of things to cover
Garth Brooks' "Friends In Low Places."  When laying down a classic tune like "Friends In Low Places," one of the best parts is that everyone in the crowd will sing along. But a downside is that you will get some heat if you mess up the lyrics. Joe Jonas opened up the song and came out of the gate exuding confidence, laying down the first few lines with a thick twang (aren't they from New Jersey?). Despite the fake accent, he sounded pretty good, but after the opening lines, things quickly go downhill. Joe Jonas begins mumbling the words, missing a few or repeating the same one twice while trying to keep the melody going. During the chorus, Nick Jonas steps in to help his brother out, and Joe takes a back seat vocally, letting Nick lead the way. Should've looked over that lyric sheet a little closer before hitting the stage, eh? While the audience might give them a little sh*t for not knowing the words to such a classic country song, I must admit I was not expecting such smooth twangs from the pop group. Real or not... Give it a listen.

Fans in the comments noticed the bobbles in the lyrics but still love the cover. While you're here, check out what some of the fans thought. "This is his karaoke bar song for sure, which is why the words don’t matter." "He messed up the words so badly, but he is adorable!" "A cover I didn’t know I needed."
"I like it, but I’m going to need Joe to know the words." "WHAT IN TARNATION (I am so here for this)." "What the heck? I'm passing out. Why is it actually good." "Cowboy Joe?" Of course, this isn't the first Jonas country music blunder... Remember when Nick Jonas joined Kelsea Ballerini at the 2016 ACM Awards and completely botched the guitar solo he was expected to perform during "Peter Pan"? It was brutal... almost makes you understand why some folks opt to lip-synch or play to tracks on big nights like that. Nick later revealed that he went to therapy over it, and well... yeah... it was that bad. Maybe we should just hang it up on the country music, eh fellas? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isbXu_ABhBo
