WORTHINGTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man has been charged after multiple forensic interviews alleged he sexually assaulted children in Marion County.

On July 1, deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department learned from a forensic interview with a juvenile victim at the Marion County Advocacy Center that a man had performed sexual acts, according to a criminal complaint.

During the interview, the juvenile victim disclosed that Tyler Swiger, 33, of Worthington, had performed sexual acts when the victim was 6 or 7 years old, but the juvenile “was unsure of the exact date,” deputies said.

In that instance, Swiger took the victim out of bed while the victim “was sleeping,” and then “took [the victim] to the floor,” and “inserted his ‘down down’ (penis),” making the victim “feel ‘weird’,” according to the complaint.

The victim stated that Swiger “only stopped because other people in the house were waking up and [Swiger] told [the victim] not to tell anyone because he could go to jail,” deputies said.

In a separate forensic interview on the same date, deputies learned that Swiger had “attempted sexual intercourse” with a 9 or 10-year-old juvenile, according to the complaint.

The victim told deputies that Swiger attempted the sexual acts “in the basement of his house,” deputies said.

In yet another forensic interview on June 18, a juvenile victim stated that Swiger “touches [the victim’s] ‘private parts with his private parts’,” and that “it would happen every night that he was home,” according to the complaint.

The victim told a nurse practitioner of the instances of abuse, and stated that the Swiger “would cover [the victim’s] mouth with his hand so that [the victim] couldn’t speak,” and that “this would happened every night,” according to the complaint. The victim also “liked when [Swiger] worked out of town because [the victim] could ‘sleep peaceful at night’,” deputies said.

From information deputies were able to obtain during their investigation, they learned that Swiger may have began assaulting the victim “back to June 2022,” according to the complaint.

Swiger has been charged with 10 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person of trust. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
