Hazardous weather is expected in much of Colorado this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Based on mapping provided by the service's Weather Prediction Center, heavy rain is expected to fall around most of the state between Monday and Wednesday. With this heavy rain will come the risk of flooding, landslides, and low visibility on roadways.

While the 'heavy rain' warning ends on July 17, rain will be likely around much of the state through the end of the week. This will come with cooler temperatures compared to recent days, also breaking a relatively dry streak that's been present in much of Colorado over the last couple of weeks.

Despite hot and dry days, dryness has actually decreased at a statewide level in recent weeks, according to the US Drought Monitor . An estimated 71.26 percent of the state is experiencing no abnormal dryness as of July 9 compared to 67.39 percent of the state on July 2 and 65.46 percent three months ago. At this point last year, however, none of the state was experiencing abnormal dryness or drought.
