Raise your hand if you've been waiting for today like it's Christmas morning. Today was the day that EA Sports College Football 25 finally released, and though it had an issue with servers crashing early on in its release, fans are rejoicing that one of the best sports games of all time is BACK (and all of those copies of NCAA Football 14 can finally rest). Most of the general public finally gained access to the college football video game today, but there were some special individuals that were granted advanced copies of the College Football 25. One of those people was country music superstar
Luke Combs. Combs, as you probably already know, is a huge fan of North Carolina. The state , not necessarily the university. He was born and raised in the great state of North Carolina, and he's made sure to bring that Carolina charm and culture with him everywhere he goes. He attended Appalachian State University, and as the story goes, he was a student there for five years, and was just one hour shy from graduating when he dropped out to pursue a country music career. That decision might not have looked great on paper, but it's obviously worked out pretty well for the "Beautiful Crazy" singer. Who knows if Combs will ever go back in real life to finish out his degree, but we do know now, thanks to EA Sports College Football 25, that he's returned to his alma mater
virtually . When he got his advanced copy of the anticipated video game, he fired up a matchup between his App State Mountaineers and the Michigan Wolverines. In the video that captured him playing it for the first time, he accurately represented how everyone that's playing the game after a 10-year hiatus feels: "Just need a plate full of pizza rolls, you know? And to be 20 years old again would be really nice." Though we can't see the screen - which is a shame - Combs apparently cued up a snow game between App State and Michigan in Boone, North Carolina. For much of the clip, it seems like the computer Combs is playing gets the best of him, but the score never got his spirits down too much. The matchup wasn't exactly even, as Combs so beautifully and poetically put:
"Underestimated and underfunded baby. That's how we do it. Up the mountain." The country star threw a couple of fist pumps and called out plenty of virtual players who weren't doing their job. Even though the video never shows the actual gameplay footage - which Combs said felt nothing like EA Sports' other game Madden - just seeing Luke's reactions are enough to make me want to go and play the game for hours on end. Combs ended the clip by saying he's got a lot of work to do, but he looks forward to getting into the revived EA Sports College Football game more in the future: "I got dominated by the Michigan Wolverines, which I don't think is any surprise to anyone. The game's awesome. I loved it. I thought it felt really great, felt really smooth. I can't wait to play it a whole lot more... but I've got to step it up though, cause I stink right now."
