Autopsy update in Jay Slater case and new details about recovered body after search

Officials in Tenerife have revealed that the body found near where Jay Slater vanished was "very deteriorated" indicating that a complete ID may not be confirmed until "next week." However, in a heart-wrenching turn, the authorities shared that the deceased individual was found with the teen's documents, and signs suggest an unintentionally fatal plunge.

The local court of Icod de los Vinos presides over the current probe, which encompasses the Masca region where the discovery was made. In their initial statement since the upsetting find by the authorities yesterday, spokespeople for the female judge investigating the case remarked: "In reference to the British citizen Jay Slater, the autopsy with the full identification of the body and the causes of death will take time, because the body was very deteriorated."

They further mentioned, "But there is very little doubt about both the identity and the etiology. The documentation he was carrying corresponds to that of Jay Slater and everything is pointing to an accidental fall, although that is unofficial pending the final reports."

An official, choosing to remain unnamed per usual Spanish practices, conveyed: "The court is saying the official identification will not be known until next week," reports the Mirror . The search for 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer Jay concluded tragically yesterday at around 10 am after 29 days, when a helicopter was employed to retrieve a corpse.

The extensive police search in the mountains near Masca was called off about two weeks after his disappearance on June 17, but mountain rescue police specialists continued a scaled-down daily search.
