SEC Media Days have begun, and the first batch of coaches and players addressed media members and fans on Monday. This annual event generates excitement and prompts predictions for the upcoming season.

The upcoming expanded College Football Playoff in 2024 has sparked curiosity about the number of teams that will qualify from each conference. The SEC is already guaranteed one spot for the conference champion. Given its status as arguably the best conference in the sport, it's almost certain that more spots will follow.

Some of the favorites for the remaining spots are Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ole Miss and LSU. However, Brad Crawford of 247Sports appeared on The Paul Finebaum Show during SEC media days and stated that the LSU Tigers are not one of his preseason playoff teams.

"LSU is not in my playoff preseason projection at 247Sports," Crawford said. "LSU is a team I probably think comes down to November. It's a team bordering a 9-3 type of finish."

Crawford mentioned that LSU's loss of three first-round picks in last year's NFL Draft will be a significant factor in the upcoming season. Although Crawford believes that the new starting quarterback, Garrett Nussmeier, will have a strong year replacing Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, he is uncertain if the Tigers have made improvements defensively.

That could ultimately keep LSU from making the first 12-team College Football Playoff.
