Sometimes it's hard to convince an athlete to hang up their cleats and enter the world of retirement, especially if they've been at the top of their sport for longer than anyone else.

For Tiger Woods, that's a conversation that has been taking place over the past decade as injuries have turned him into a shell of his previous self, making Major Championship streaks turn into missed cut streaks.

This week at the 2024 Open Championship, though, Woods is once again in the field, and competing for another Major to add to his trophy case. While we've seen him play in only nine competitive rounds this season and miss cuts in the last two majors, Woods still has expectations that he can compete.

"I'll play as long as I can play and still feel like I can win the event," Woods said to media members on Tuesday ahead of The Open.

"Has that belief wavered in the last two years that you can still win?" a media member asked Woods.

    "No," Tiger responded bluntly.

After recent calls for his retirement from veteran golfer Colin Montgomerie, Woods showed that his trash-talking game is still as elite as ever. We will see this coming weekend if the same can be said for his game on the course as well.
