    Ottawa County Fair opens for 60th year by crowning 2024 royalty

    OAK HARBOR ― The Junior Fair Queen crowning got things started Monday at the 60th annual Ottawa County Fair at the fairgrounds.

    Fairgoers have a chance to walk the midway, enjoy some fair food favorites, try rides, watch and bet on harness racing, check out the farm animals and exhibits, and enjoy good times while staying with friends and family at the on-site campground through Sunday.

    Junior Fair royalty are Queen Gracie Sprague, daughter of Gabe and Julie Sprague, and King Tait Dusseau, son of Joe and Kristen Dusseau. First runner-up queen is Sydney Mahaney, daughter of Rhonda Mahaney, and first runner-up king is Austin Wolf, son of Jason and Christie Wolf.

    Second runner-up Junior Fair Queen is Lexi Perry, daughter of Paul and Susan Perry, and second runner-up king is Brock Perry, son of Paul and Susan Perry. Other attendants were Kora Perkins, Courtney Chapinski, Brooklynn Starkey, James Sander and Will Hartlaub.

    Livestock sale slated for Friday

    Other big events this week include senior citizens day Wednesday, including activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Diamond J. Rodeo at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

    Thursday is 4-H horse and goat judging plus the open class bake goods judging and line dancing. Friday Is the livestock sale, the open class flower show, draft horse show and prettiest baby contest. At 7 p.m. Friday will be the Twisted Metal Demolition Derby.

    Events Saturday include the antique tractor pull, back to the farm sale, adult horse showmanship and the OSTPA Tractor and Truck Pulls at 7 p.m.

    Sunday will have free admission with a youth fishing derby beginning at 9:30 a.m., World Draft Horse Show at 11 a.m., greased pig scramble at 2 p.m. and the Ottawa County Agricultural Society elections between noon and 4 p.m. The fair wraps up at 6 p.m.
