Barbie Makes Massive Sue Bird Announcement

Several legendary WNBA stars not only make a career out of being elite with a basketball, but they also have an impact on those who watch them. The list of players in the WNBA who double as incredible role models goes on and on.

However, few earned the type of recognition Sue Bird received. Her great example will be enshrined with a brand-new Barbie doll. The famous toy line has released several other dolls modeled after real-life inspiring women throughout the year, and this speaks to the impact Bird has.

“Barbie is releasing their Sue Bird Role Model doll to honor the basketball legend whose record-breaking legacy pioneered the way for growth in the women’s league,” Women’s Hoops Network posted on X.

“I was really excited when I heard,” Bird told People magazine exclusively. “I grew up playing with Barbies so it's kind of a surreal moment when something like this happens."

Bird’s Barbie comes during the company’s summer of sports initiative as part of its 65th anniversary celebration.
