Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is one of the most talented players in his position in the NFL. He has everything you are looking for in a franchise quarterback in terms of size and skill.

Standing 6’5” and weighing 237 pounds, he presents opposing defenses with a lot of problems. If you bring pressure, he has the athleticism and size to scramble and pick up chunk yardage.

Should the defense actually get home, you need to bring the lumber. Taking down Josh Allen is easier said than done, as he is bigger than most defenders attempting to tackle him.

Some opponents will choose to sit back, hoping that Josh Allen will make a mistake. Alas, many mistakes quarterbacks make can be made up with for arm strength, which he possesses in spades.

Figuring out a way to slow down Josh Allen is challenging. He can beat you in every facet of the game, but some people aren’t as high on his outlook as others.

Over at ESPN , Jeremy Fowler put together quarterback rankings. NFL executives, coaches and scouts voted on players and Fowler compiled the results and made positional rankings heading into 2024.

Josh Allen came in at No. 3 on the list, behind Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals. But, one executive had a harsh take on the Wyoming product, ripping him apart.

“One of the more overrated players in the NFL,” one NFL executive told ESPN . “Immense talent but he makes a lot of mistakes. He’s underdeveloped at winning at the line of scrimmage, tends to lock on to targets, more of a thrower than precision passer, forces throws into traffic.”

Josh Allen was the only quarterback other than Mahomes to receive a first-place vote; it is safe to say that the executive was not the person who cast it for him.

There are certainly some flaws with Josh Allen’s game, but some of that blame can be placed on the Buffalo Bills. He hasn’t always had the strongest supporting cast and his head coach, Sean McDermott, is defensive-minded.

The team has failed to replace former offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, who is now head coach of the New York Giants. Working with the offensive whiz was when Josh Allen had his most productive seasons as a pro.
