49ers reportedly respond to star receiver Brandon Aiyuk's trade request

The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly responded to Brandon Aiyuk's public trade request, and the star wide receiver is probably upset about it.

The National Football League world has been enthralled with Aiyuk's contract negotiations with the 49ers. While talks seemed positive for a brief moment, it was soon revealed that no progress had been made.

All of this seemingly came to a conclusion Tuesday when Aiyuk made a public trade request this morning. However, it looks like the star wideout won't be going anywhere.

According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN , teams that have reached out to the 49ers have been told that they have no intention of trading the talented receiver. Instead, they plan to hold onto him as long as possible.

Schefter was also quick to note that this isn't the first time in recent memory that San Francisco has done this.

"In the past, the 49ers have had players such as Deebo Samuel and Robbie Gould also request trades before reaching deals with both players," Schefter said on X . "The 49ers intend to keep Brandon Ayiuk, not trade him."

While this may be good for the 49ers in the short term, especially after they signed a contract extension with quarterback Brock Purdy for over $3.7 million, it will likely hurt their relationship with Aiyuk in the long run. San Francisco fans will get a better perspective of the team when training camp begins for veterans on July 23.
