Vanessa Bryant, the widow of NBA icon and legendary Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant, reflected on Tuesday afternoon on her father-in-law Joe Bryant's passing.

Her words highlight the complex and tender relationships within the Bryant family, acknowledging the love and respect Kobe had for his father.

“Sending our condolences upon hearing the news of my father-in-law's passing,” she shared on her Instagram. “We hoped things would've been different. Although the times we spent together were few, he was always sweet and nice to be around."

She continued, "Kobe loved him very much. Our prayers go out to the family."

Joe Bryant, who married Pamela Cox in 1975 and fathered Kobe Bryant in 1978, passed away at the age of 69 due to a massive stroke.

The Bryant family has been an integral part of basketball history. This loss comes a few years after the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant in 2020.

Joe Bryant had a significant effect on the basketball world, much like his son Kobe.
