CBS ‘ firehouse drama Fire Country will soon begin streaming on Netflix . And the premiere date is coming sooner than you might think.

Deadline reports that CBS Studios penned a new deal to license Fire Country Season 1 to the streamer in hopes of drumming up new viewership ahead of the Season 3 premiere. So far, it appears that just Season 1 is included in the deal.

Fire Country will begin streaming on Netflix on Aug. 1 ahead of the Season 3 premiere, which will air on CBS Oct. 18.

The CBS drama stars Max Thieriot as a young convict who joins a firefighting program in search of redemption and a shortened prison sentence. He and other inmates work alongside elite firefighters to extinguish massive blazes across the region. Billy Burke, Kevin Alejandro, and Jordan Calloway also star.

It will also continue streaming on Paramount+ , where Seasons 1 and 2 are already available. This will likely give the show a boost in viewership ahead of the new season, though Fire Country Season 2 was already among Friday night’s most-watched programs with 5.51 million viewers. Per Deadline’s reporting, Season 2 averaged 9.2 million viewers in live 7-day multi-platform viewing.

This move comes as no surprise on CBS’ part. Netflix has been known to breathe new life into shows thanks to its viewership, as seen with the second wind Suits caught after it began streaming on Netflix in 2023.

The renewed hype around the legal drama spurred a Super Bowl ad , a Los Angeles-based spinoff series , and a T Mobile ad starring Suits leads Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams .

CBS concocted a similar deal for the supernatural drama Evil , which has continued streaming on both Netflix and its new home on Paramount+.

CBS President David Stapf told Deadline that they are still seeing results from the licensing partnership with Netflix.

“The Paramount+ numbers of Evil go up because it’s getting additional exposure on Netflix,” he said.

Fire Country Season 3 premieres Oct. 18 on both CBS and Paramount+.
