NBA Star Ja Morant Announces Major News With Nike

NBA superstar Ja Morant and Nike have officially announced the release date for the "Ja 2 Stargazer." His second signature shoe will be released on Oct. 3, 2024. The first model features a purple colorway with galaxy speckles.

Morant originally signed with Nike in 2019 after being drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies as the No. 2 overall pick out of Murray State.

"All my life my parents worked for a check," Morant said in 2019 . "Now I'm proud to say I work for the check. #Nike #NikeBasketball"

He's now set to launch the second version of his shoe, continuing his legacy with Nike.

Morant is heading into his sixth year in the NBA in the 2024-25 season. The Grizzlies star averaged 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game during the 2023-24 season, albeit in just nine games after going through a league suspension and season-ending shoulder injury.

With Morant absent for a huge chunk of the season, the Grizzlies finished No. 13 in the Western Conference with a 27-55 record and missed the playoffs.

The 24-year-old star dropped big news on the NBA community with his shoe release, but fans are still waiting for his healthy return to the hardwood.
