The two-year contract ends at the SuperMotocross World Championship for the 2022 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 250SX West Champion Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Christian Craig. The past two seasons in the 450 class have been challenging for Craig, marked by injuries and significant time away from the bike. However, he has shown steady progress this AMA Pro Motocross Championship season, achieving his best finish on the Husqvarna FC 450 at the Spring Creek National this past Saturday, with a 7-7 performance for 7th overall while dealing with a nagging elbow injury. But where will he be heading into 2025?

On Monday night’s PulpMx Show with Steve Matthes and co-host Skip Norfolk, Craig talks about parting ways with the Husqvarna team at the end of the SuperMotocross World Championship in late September, stating, “At the end of the day, I wanted to come here and make the change and train with Aldon (Baker). I mean, it's been tough for sure, like, man, I just feel bad that I haven't put in the results that I was hired to do, and it bums me out for sure each week, and even how long I was off the bike. It was frustrating, for sure, but I'm not going to point fingers or blame anything. At the end of the day, I got injured and it's taken way too long to get better. I mean, I get it. If I were them and you look at the results that I put in and my last two years off the bike so long, man, it's business at the end of the day. So all I know is I'll be racing next year, and I'm excited because my arm is starting to feel normal again, and I feel like I can get back to where I was.”

There have been rumors that Craig could end up at H.E.P. Motorsports Twisted Tea Suzuki next year, with Matthes asking, “I know HEP wants you. I know there's been talks of that, so that could happen. It's safe to say we won't see you on an Austrian steel-framed bike, Christian. Just you need a change, right or wrong?” Christian answers, “Well yeah, I mean, I have some options, and you know we're talking. So I'm excited, wherever I end up and whatever bike I'm on. I just know, yeah, I'm going to keep going.”

Steve discussed another team option where Craig could head next: “I heard about you, and maybe you can confirm or deny or not speak about it. It was a trainer/tester at Star (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing) next year. I don't see that, but is that something that's been thrown around?” Christian was quick with his response, “No idea. I don’t know what you’re talking about.” So, Steve might be on to something there with that answer. Christian was also asked if he would retire and said, "Absolutely not."

Regardless of what team and bike he will be riding for in 2025, Craig looks forward to putting in good results for the remainder of this 2024 season with Husqvarna. “I am improving right now, and we still have four rounds left and three SMX rounds, so I do want to put in some good results for this team, you know, yeah, and try to finish off strong.”
