Jaelan Phillips' dreadful Achilles tear was one of the worst moments of the 2023 season for the Miami Dolphins. Aside from the obvious hit to the defense, the injury itself was horrifying to see, as were the tears streaming down Phillips' face while sitting on the field.

However, Phillips has come a very long way since that fateful afternoon inside MetLife Stadium the day after Thanksgiving. The Dolphins' star has been working to get back ready for the season , and it appears he's making significant progress on that front.

Phillips posted a video on his Instagram page showing his progress in his recovery.  He notes that he wasn't able to walk four months ago, but now he's back to doing agility exercises - and it appears he's doing them quite ably.

It is certainly a good sign to see Phillips moving fast and doing a training exercise of some type.  That's a long way traveled since the early parts of the offseason .  There's no doubt his return would provide a massive spark to the Dolphins' defense.

However, one has to be realistic about the severity and nature of his injury, a complete Achilles tendon tear.  That's something that the Dolphins will surely not rush him back from, and one they will be sure has fully healed and that he can do everything on a football field before he returns to the team.

However, it sure looks like he's managed to stay in shape during the offseason, as he previously posted a photo in the gym looking like he hasn't missed a day of training.  He's also managed to get around 18 holes of a golf course without issue three weeks ago, per his Instagram page.

We'll see soon enough if the Dolphins' talented young defender will be able to make it back for the start of Miami's season, or if it will be later on in the season.  The Dolphins open up on Sunday, September 8 at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
