SEQUOIA NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The Tulare County Historical Society will hold an event at the Buck Rock Lookout in Sequoia National Forest to honor their newest historic marker.

The Historical Society’s newest historic marker will be unveiled during the event, which will take place at the base of the lookout. Officials say there is no need to climb the stairs.

The event will also have a short program followed by refreshments and tours of the lookout. Officials say docents, dignitaries, and Smokey Bear will be on hand to provide information and there will be entertainment.

The ceremony will held on July 21 and will begin at noon, but the gather is at 11:30 a.m. Visitors are invited to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy after the ceremony. Organizers say to be prepared for changeable mountain weather, and that carpooling is appreciated. The event is free of cost, but the National Park charges an entrance fee of $35 per vehicle.
