HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Douglas Freeman High School senior Cayman Goode was drafted in the 12th round of this year’s MLB draft by the Atlanta Braves.

Goode becomes the first player to be drafted directly from Douglas Freeman since 1993 when Joesph Adams was drafted in the 69th round to Cleveland. He’s the highest-drafted player out of Douglas Freeman since Conner McGehee went in the 5th round in 1979 to Pittsburgh. These stats according to thebaseballcube.com.

Goode this past season for the Rebels posted a 3-1 record with a 1.22 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 40 innings.

Goode is one of 11 pitchers the Braves drafted in their 2024 draft class.
