KING — West Stokes’ Ashlynn Cox is looking forward to her senior year because of finding out which college she will be attending, senior prom, senior pictures, homecoming, her senior year in sports and much more.

She has been selected to be the President of National Honor Society (NHS) and Interact Club for the 2024-25 school year. Last year, she served as the Vice President of NHS. She plans to attend a four-year university and get her doctorate in physical therapy or to become a marine biologist.

One of the hardest life lessons she has learned is that people change. Some people are only meant for a season in your life, she said. People grow apart and it’s just part of life.

Ashlynn has a gift of making people smile. She loves making people happy because she said you never know what other people are going through behind closed doors. Cox loves to show others God’s love and joy.

Cox helped the Wildcats to a Co-Mid-State Conference Championship and conference tournament championship this past spring. She is a three-time All-Conference performer, was All-District during her freshman and junior seasons and earned All-State this year. She plays travel softball for Carolina Cardinals Yates 18U.

The Stokes News was able to catch up with Ashlynn and she allowed us to get to know her on a more personal level by answering the following questions:

Favorite Food: Chicken Tenders, and the only dipping sauce acceptable is DAIRI-O ranch

Favorite Subject: English, I hated it until my ninth grade class with Mrs. (Cathie) Greve. She is by far the best teacher at West Stokes.

Biggest Influence: My dad has always been the person I look up to most. He’s had such an impact on my life. Despite his circumstances as a child, he taught me hard work, determination and motivation is key to becoming what you want. He’s been my best friend since day one, from fishing trips to playing catch to the long car rides to tournaments. He is the person I know I can always count on and I aspire to be.

Favorite TV Show: “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Price is Right”

    Favorite Music: Country

    Website most often visit: Shein

Favorite Day of the Year: Christmas because it’s the day we get to celebrate our Savior and spend family time together. I love the feeling of putting Christmas music on while the whole family puts our handmade ornaments on our tree that we’ve made or been gifted through the years, all in our pj’s.

Favorite Ice Cream: Blue Monster from Dairi-O

Pets: A dog named Cali Mae, she’s my ride or die

Favorite Teacher: Mrs. (Cathie) Greve because of her energy she brings to the classroom

Dream Vacation: Bahamas, I’ve always wanted to swim in crystal clear water, swim with pings, find pretty seashells and watch the sunrise and sunset over the ocean.

Dream Job: I have two: become a Pediatric Oncology Nurse and a Marine Biologist

Hobbies: Baking, painting, playing softball, and enjoy volunteering

Favorite Athlete: Dansby Swanson who once played for the Atlanta Braves, but now sadly with the Chicago Cubs.
