    How do you prepare for hurricanes & power outages in NC? Share your tips

    Hurricane season is underway. And this year, experts have predicted a particularly active one, with 17-25 named storms .

    The News & Observer is busy assembling our hurricane coverage so we’re ready to help inform our readers when the time comes.

    Anyone who has experienced severe weather knows that preparation is key . Most of us are aware of the basic items to have on hand — extra batteries, shelf-stable food, bottled water, phone chargers.

    We’re talking with experts to put together an extensive guide, but we want to hear from you, too .

    • What tips, tricks and hacks do you have for hurricane preparation?
    • What canned or shelf-stable foods do you stock up on?
    • How do you get ready for power outages?
    • What lessons have you learned from previous storms (the easy way, or the hard way)?
